With over a decade of experience supporting children and youth from diverse

peer mentorship and guided by a commitment to foster their mental health, resilience,
and overall well-being.

My Best Hopes For You

Everyone has a story; oftentimes it includes a form of difficulty or struggle. For many
children and youth, their voices are not heard, and they remain silent, trapping emotions
inside, which can lead to emotional distress, unhealthy habits, addictions, and painful
experiences, etc.

I chose this work to help children and youth break the silence surrounding their
experiences. Through mentorship, guidance, and advocacy, I strive to create a safe and
supportive space where they can affirm their feelings, find their voice, and share their
experiences with confidence. My goal is to empower each young person to feel heard,
supported, and understood throughout their journey

My Training and Approach

I am a Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW.
I have a Bachelor of Social Work Degree with an Honors Specialization in Childhood Social Institutions. I also hold a Master of Social Work Degree.

I worked with children and youth involved in the Child Welfare and Criminal Justice System with a wide range of complexities. During my time in the educational field, I collaborated with teachers, guidance counsellors, and school administration to ensure students had the support and resources they needed to thrive by using a strong foundation of peer mentorship, cultural competence, and advocacy.

More than Just Work

When I am not working, I am first and foremost a mother, which is the best and at times the hardest kind of work that I do.

Another big part of my life is being active through sports, walking, and going to the gym, all of which are good for my mind, body, and soul. I also love nature; being among the birds, on the beaches, and by the water is my perfect kind of day. Music also makes me happy and acts as an artistic way for me to express myself. â€‹ I look forward to helping children and youth build their self-esteem, find their identity, and gain confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

How would I define Resilience?

Growing up in an interracial adoptive family, I didn't look like anyone in my family or my
neighbourhood; I often felt like I didn't fit in, which left me feeling shy and insecure. In
search of acceptance and a sense of belonging, I found myself looking for security in
the wrong places.

For years, I became afraid to do things outside of my comfort zone and never felt like it
was good enough. As I got older, I found that sports were something I liked and excelled
in. They became a source of confidence and helped me navigate the academic
challenges I experienced, which were a significant struggle for me.

Years after high school, I decided to go back to school as a mature student. I was
scared, being older than most of the students and not as academically inclined, but I
was “not going to let fear stop me”!
